Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen to return as Loki and Scarlet Witch in Marvel TV shows

The popular Marvel characters Loki and Scarlet Witch could be coming to the small screen.

Variety reports that Disney has plans to give both superheroes – who have previously appeared in Marvel’s Avengers movies – their own limited series as part of their new dedicated streaming service. Other heroes who have yet to appear in standalone movies may also get their own series.

Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen are expected to reprise their roles, as Loki and Scarlet Witch respectively, with budgets expected to rival “those of a major studio production”.

Each series is expected to include between six to eight episodes. Marvel Studios will produce the shows and Kevin Feige, the company’s president, is expected to be closely involved.

These shows will be entirely different to the Marvel shows currently available on Netflix, including Luke Cage and Jessica Jones.

Disney’s streaming service is expected to rival Netflix and will launch in late 2019. Other high-profile projects set to debut on the service include a Star Wars series overseen by Jon Favreau, a show based on High School Musical, and a live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp.

Marvel and Disney have yet to comment on the news.
