Toshiba TVs Powered by ViXS Support Sky PERFECT JSAT 4K Ultra HD 10-Bit 60p Broadcast Service

XCode 6400 Enabling Tier 1 Manufacturers to Rapidly Deploy Ultra HD 4K Broadcast Services

TORONTO, ON--(Marketwired - October 06, 2014) - ViXS Systems Inc. (VXS.TO), a pioneer and leader in media processing solutions, today announced that Toshiba's new line of Ultra HD-4K TVs, powered by the ViXS XCode 6400, will support the new SKY Perfect JSAT UHD 4K broadcast service, which has been operational since June 2014. SKY Perfect JSAT is Asia's largest satellite operator with a fleet of 16 satellites, and Japan's only provider of both multi-channel pay-TV broadcasting and satellite communications services with 3.5 million subscribers in Japan. The new Toshiba Z Series 84/65/58/50Z10X line of UHD 4K TVs, launching this Fall, will utilize the ViXS XCode 6403 HEVC SoC to decode and display full UHD 4K content in 10-bit Rec 2020 format at 60 frames-per-second (fps).

The ViXS XCode 6400 family of SoCs continues to lead the market by commercially shipping 10-bit HEVC UHD 4K chips to Tier 1 operators and set-top box (STB) manufacturers around the world.
