U.S. SEC to fine Japan's SMBC Nikko Securities $9 mln - TV Tokyo

TOKYO, Aug 3 (Reuters) - The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has notified Japan's SMBC Nikko Securities, a Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group unit, that it would levy a $9 million fine over its staff's use of personal phones, TV Tokyo reported on Thursday.
SMBC Nikko received the SEC's notification on July 6 and was willing to accept the fine, TV Tokyo said, citing internal documents. (Reporting by Kantaro Komiya Editing by Bernadette Baum)
