Ukrainian Armed Forces thwart Russian attempts to advance in Kherson Oblast General Staff report

On Sunday, 7 August, Russian forces made several unsuccessful attempts to advance on several fronts in Ukraine, including near the village of Blahodatne in Kherson Oblast. Fighting is currently underway on several of those fronts.

Quote: "The enemy’s main efforts on the Pivdennyi Buh front are focused on preventing Ukrainian troops from advancing. [The Russians are] continuing to actively conduct aerial reconnaissance using UAVs. [They] fired on [the Ukrainian positions in] the contact zone using tubed and rocket artillery and tanks. [In addition, they] conducted airstrikes on the areas around Andriivka, Bilohirka, Novomykolaivka, Oleksandrivka, Myrne, Velyke Artakove and Tavriiske.

[Russian forces] conducted assault operations near Blahodatne, but were unsuccessful and retreated."

Details: On the Sloviansk front, Russian forces fired on the area near Dovhenke, Velyka Komyshuvakha, Sulyhivka, Ridne, Bohorodychne and Krasnopillia.

Russian troops attempted to conduct assault operations near Virnopillia. The General Staff reports that "Ukrainian troops thwarted this unfortunate attempt and pushed the enemy back."

Russian forces suffered losses and retreated following an unsuccessful attempt to conduct reconnaissance-in-force near Bohorodychne and Dolyna.

Russian occupying forces used tank guns, as well as tubed and rocket artillery on the Kramatorsk front, firing on the areas around Kramatorsk, Siversk, Verkhnokamianske, Hryhorivka, Raihorodok and Zvanivka. Russian aircraft conducted an airstrike near Spirne.

Russian forces conducted assault operations in an attempt to improve their tactical positions near Verkhnokamianske, but were not successful and were forced to retreat.

On the Bakhmut front, Russian troops fired on military and civilian infrastructure in and around Bakhmut, Soledar, Kostiantynivka, Yakovlivka, Pokrovske, Vershyna, Kodema and Bakhmutske. Russian aircraft carried out airstrikes near Bakhmut, Soledar and Zaitseve.

A Russian reconnaissance group attempted to determine the location and composition of Ukrainian defences near Bilohorivka, but Ukrainian troops have found and eliminated the group.

Russian forces also conducted offensive and assault operations in the vicinity of Bakhmut, Zaitseve, Yakovlivka and Vershyna, but retreated without making gains. Fighting is continuing near Kodema.

Russian occupying forces used rocket and tubed artillery, as well as tank guns, to fire on the areas around Avdiivka, Pisky, Shevchenko, Netailove, Nevelske, Krasnohorivka and Niu-York on the Avdiivka front, and conducted airstrikes near Avdiivka, Marinka, Kamianka and Volodymyrivka.

Russian occupying forces attempted to break through the Ukrainian defences near Krasnohorivka, Avdiivka, Pisky and Marinka. Fighting is still underway in those areas.

Ukrainian and Russian forces continue to fire on each other’s positions in the contact zone on the Novopavlivka and Zaporizhzhia fronts. Russian aircraft carried out airstrikes on the areas around Mykilske, Vesele, Novodanylivka, Mali Shcherbaky, Novosilka and Velyka Novosilka.

In addition to carrying out artillery shelling in the contact zone, Russian forces on the Kharkiv front carried out airstrikes near Pryshyb, Verkhnii Saltiv and Rtyshchivka and conducted aerial reconnaissance using UAVs.

There were no noteworthy changes on the Volyn, Polissia and Sivershchyna fronts. Russian forces continued to conduct aerial reconnaissance on those fronts [i.e., in northern Ukraine - ed.] and used tubed and rocket artillery to shell the areas around Hai and Hremiach (Chernihiv Oblast), and Nova Vurka and Mykolaivka (Sumy Oblast).
