US finalizes $1.1 billion in credits for California nuclear plant

WASHINGTON, Jan 17 (Reuters) - The administration of President Joe Biden has finalized $1.1 billion in credits for PG&E Corp's Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant in California, the Department of Energy said on Wednesday.
The Civil Nuclear Credit Program funding for the California nuclear plant comes from the bipartisan infrastructure law.
The Biden administration set up the program to help existing nuclear power plants which it believes are essential to help fight climate change. (Reporting by Timothy Gardner Editing by Chris Reese)
