Wendy Williams Doesn’t Think Bill Cosby Should Go to Jail Even If He’s Found Guilty

On The Wendy Williams Show Tuesday, Wendy Williams took a surprising stance on the Bill Cosby sexual assault case: If found guilty, Cosby shouldn’t go to jail. Not only that, Williams appeared to make light of a very serious situation when she began to joke about what she believed should happen to Cosby.

Bill Cosby (R) walks with aide Andrew Wyatt (L) during a break on the third day of Cosby's trial on sexual assault charges in the Montgomery County Courthouse June 7, 2017 in Norristown, Pennsylvania. A former Temple University employee alleges that the entertainer drugged and molested her in 2004 at his home in suburban Philadelphia. After joking about how quickly it took for the defense to rest its case, Williams said, “I don’t want him to go to jail though. Eighty years old, nobody needs to be going to jail for possibly the rest of their lives.”

Then Williams got to the joking.

“They should make him pick his worst property, because I’m sure there’s a chateau, and then there’s a mansion, and then he might have a manse. That’s what they call a really nice house but not mansionesque, I think. Then he might have a brownstone with five stories but no elevator. That’ll make him suffer,” Williams said to raucous laughter from the audience, even laughing herself.

Eventually, Williams got serious, like when she was saying Cosby shouldn’t go to jail, and revealed the punishment she believes he deserves: He should be inconvenienced.

“I think an ankle bracelet in a difficult property to navigate is in order. I don’t want to see him go to jail,” Williams said.
