Stocks Open Slightly Higher Looking to Add to Record Gains

U.S. stocks are looking to build on yesterday's record. The S&P 500 closed above 2,000 for the first time. Applications for home mortgages rose last week. The Mortgage Bankers Association said its seasonally adjusted index rose 2.8 percent. Russia's president Vladimir Putin met with the Ukrainian President Tuesday. Putin said Russia will do "everything possible" for peace. However, there was no breakthrough in the talks between the two leaders. Tiffany (TIF) beat Q2 earnings estimates and raised its full-year outlook. Some Time Warner Cable (TWC) customers may still be offline this morning. The company's Internet and On Demand services were suffering from multiple outages nationwide. Apple (AAPL) is reportedly planning a new, larger version of its iPad. According to Bloomberg, the bigger tablet will be 12.9 inches and will roll out in 2015.
