Taco Bell taps Dolly Parton, Doja Cat to star in its 'Mexican Pizza: The Musical'

SEANA SMITH: Lights, camera, Taco Bell. Yes, "Mexican Pizza" the musical, it's really happening. Taco Bell is tapping megastars Dolly Parton and Doja Cat to perform in a musical that's going to premiere exclusively on TikTok later this month. It's happening on May 26. Now it will celebrate the return of Taco Bell's cult favorite Mexican pizza guys. Almost 100,000 likes on Dolly Parton's Instagram announcing this, including our very own Dave. So Dave, you are very excited about this.
DAVE BRIGGS: I am very, very excited. I have not had a Mexican pizza in probably 20 years, full disclosure. But any time you pull out the words TikTok, Mexican pizza, musical, AI couldn't pull out four more random words than that. So this is going to be really interesting. And I know why Rachelle is interested. Because the producers of this TikTok musical already have a hit on their hands with the "Bridgerton" TikTok musical, which I'm sure you've seen a dozen times.
RACHELLE AKUFFO: You already know I've watched it repeatedly. It's just who I am as a person. I regret nothing. But I love that this musical is coming out. I mean, it comes complete with the playbill and everything. They describe it as a satire about the harrowing story of those who fought to bring back the Mexican pizza. So all the gravitas that comes with that, and it's supposed to be coming out.
So the actual musical is coming out 8:00 PM eastern time on May 26. I love that Dolly Parton is a genuine fan of the Mexican pizza. So you know she has a vested interest in this. And who doesn't love food? I mean, it's--
SEANA SMITH: Yeah, and also, Rachelle, to your point here, the vested interest in this change.org petition got over two-- almost 200,000 signatures before we heard that Taco Bell was going to bring back Mexican pizza last month. So a lot of people are excited about this.
DAVE BRIGGS: May 17. If you're a loyalty member, May 17 you can get a Mexican pizza.
