Thanks to Russell Crowe, John Oliver has a koala chlamydia ward named after him

John Oliver has a koala chlamydia ward named after him at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital thanks to a donation made by Russell Crowe. A few weeks back on Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, the host revealed that the show had bought several pieces of Crowe’s movie memorabilia at his “divorce auction” with the plan to donate the memorabilia to a Blockbuster in Anchorage, Alaska. Touched by Oliver’s kindness, Crowe decided to donate the money Oliver paid for the items to the zoo. The zoo was so grateful for the donation, Terri, Bindi, and Robert Irwin made a video thanking Crowe and Oliver. In the video they also revealed the name of the new ward, The John Oliver Koala Chlamydia Ward. “Well played, Russell Crowe. Well played indeed,” Oliver said, adding, “That may honestly be the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.” Oliver then went on to pretend that this has been a longtime goal of his saying, “Back when this show started, I wrote down my one and only goal for it, and I put it in this envelope. It was a simple goal, just three words long. That goal? A koala chlamydia ward." And with that “goal” reached, Oliver was ready to call it quits. He packed up his belongings as his desk was being dismantled and said his goodbye. “I hope you enjoyed the show over the years. I know we made it rather difficult to do that. But, you know, we did learn some things along the way, didn’t we? And we had exactly four laughs together, so that’s something,” Oliver said. "The point is, pack it up, guys, we're going home! We did it, Jeff! We did it. We got the koala ward!”
