I don't think that ADSK has another 10% in gains in it. Looks pretty bad here. I actually found (http://Achieverspot.tech) the other day and their stocks are way better...

Guidance doesn't look to far off, probably setting themselves up for a nice beat and raise next Q. Sold off more on the analyst expectations of lowered estimates than it would have on the actual lowering.

Great numbers, guidance is an issue?.....

Somebody dumping before earnings?

I use Autodesk's AutoCAD Civil 3D application everyday at work and it is 100% needed for what I do. There is one competitor that I know of and it is Bentley's Microstation that I find to be as useful as a box of rocks. This company runs on subscriptions unless you are using some of its versions from the early 2000's and before where you installed it via a disc. Great products that are ever evolving and steady income. This company should not have this much volatility I do not get it. However, the PE is very high.

fw p/e 28, not expensive for a stock with a wide moat what can grow 15% a year, and 90%+ gross margins

What sector if adsk in?

Where's the cash on balance sheet, if they are earning so much/share? It's all $3+ B debt? Why you buy a business, which in the name of earnings accumulate debt after decades?
There seems to be some confusion on this board as to why adsk went down, some of the posters alluded to the reason and that is adsk was overavalued compared to its competitors, meaning investment money was best put in other stock companies besides adsk, than putting it into adsk. Adsk has now gone down and it's forward PE is more in line with competing companies to adsk. So is adsk a good company, yes, has their fundamentals changed, no, they are about the same.
So the question is, is adsk at the correct valuation, i.e., should I buy? Well, the answer to this question is that it is highly depended upon future adsk growth rate. The present debt/equity = 2.68, the instantaneous knee jerk reaction is to say debt greater than your equity is bad, while this is true in general, it might not be true for adsk. The debt/equity ratio is suggesting that adsk management team is projecting very big 5 year growth rate, given the market that adsk is in, the expected future growth rate is expected to be high; however this is a gamble. If the future growth rate of adsk is in the mid to high teens, adsk is priced good, if the future growth rate doesn't pan out (less than expected), we are likely to see adsk trade sideways, if adsk growth rate goes flat then adsk is likely to drop; all of this is long term, 1 to 2 years type thing.

Earnings and outlook must be bad

SIMPLEX TRADING, LLC shorting the whole market. This was one of its victims.

Did the fundamental of this company change. I know all the engineers and construction company can’t do their job without auto desk. They basically have monopoly on the market.
Bullish

Autodesk had a great quarter. They are set for explosive growth and have very little true competition. They have an excellent management team. Their growth will continue to accelerate for years. Review the last quarter for yourself.
Aside from the fact that it is a great company perfectly positioned for bulletproof earnings growth, look at the 1 year chart. It’s oversold and landed on the bottom of the trend line. It’s good for a 5% bounce in the short term anyway. Then it will continue its steady climb up. This fall from 340 is a rare gift. At these prices it’s a no brainer.
The fundamentals of the company and the technicals of the chart scream buy now. Even the newly reduced price targets are up in the 300s.
This little crash today should have finally washed out all the folks getting margin-called from last week. The nimble money managers will start biting tomorrow by 1030. The more conservative bigger guys will wait until after the long weekend when it’s a little safer and start moving in. Make no mistake, it will not stay under 300 for long.

Hope the CEO has not leaked the Earnings to the big "Money Runners". I have owned companies that pull that trick. They do it to protect them, when Earnings are not up to snuff. They throw the retail investor under the "Bus"!! We will find out today, the selling is not a good sign.
