Under the surface, one really has to question why the large Canadian cannabis company is chasing yet another celebrity deal after firing the founding CEO to presumably focus on tighter cost controls. Another Celebrity Canopy Growth already has deals with lifestyle guru Martha Stewart, rapper Snoop Dogg and actor Seth Rogan. The addition of Canadian rapper Drake to the lineup only seems to add to an extensive list of celebrity cannabis investments where focus may become lacking and the different brands diluted.
Apple Inc co-founder Steve Wozniak joined in the online debate over accusations of gender discrimination by the algorithm behind the iPhone maker's credit card, fuelling scrutiny of the newly launched Apple Card. The criticism started on Thursday, after entrepreneur David Heinemeier Hansson railed against the Apple Card in a series of Twitter posts, saying it gave him 20 times the credit limit his wife received. The much anticipated titanium credit card, part of a broader effort by Apple to derive greater revenue from services after years of heavy reliance on iPhone sales, was launched in August, in partnership with Goldman Sachs Group Inc .
The Blackstone Group Inc. (BX), one of the world's largest private equity firms with $554 billion in total assets under management, sees growing risks for the markets right now, including a largely overlooked "mother of all bubbles." Moreover, there actually are troubling linkages between several negative developments that, on the surface, appear to be random and unrelated, warns Joseph Zidle, chief investment strategist at Blackstone's private wealth solutions group, per a detailed Business Insider report that is summarized below. Zidle sees a troubling parallel with the 2008 financial crisis, which erupted after a number of apparently unrelated risks converged. Meanwhile, CEO Steve Schwarzman of Blackstone searches for "discordant notes," or trends in the economy and the markets that appear to be separate and isolated, but which can combine with devastating results.

It's been three years now since Donald Trump was elected president, which means it's been three years of listening to Donald Trump bragging about how great the stock market is doing. Contrary to one now-infamous pre-election prediction, it has done quite well. The Dow Jones Industrial Average, Standard & Poor's 500 Index and other market indices are of course imperfect economic indicators.
