Earnings, jobs data: What to Watch Next Week

Yahoo Finance's Madison Mills previews some of the top headlines investors should look out for next week — and the new year — including earnings reports expected out from Conagra Brands (CAG), Walgreens (WBA), and Constellation Brands (STZ), as well as JOLTS data and the monthly jobs report.

- It's time to watch what we've got coming up next week. Another shortened week markets closed on Monday. But earnings season right around the corner, on Jan 12th, kicking off there. But we got some results coming in next week to Conagra and Walgreens. Both reporting on Thursday ahead of the open. Then washing it all down with beer importing giant Constellation Brands reporting on Friday.

Then we go to the economy, the job market. The Bureau of Labor statistics releasing its monthly JOLTS data for November. Job openings expected to rise roughly 8.8 million from the 8.7 million in October. Sticking with jobs, we've got ADP next week. And then on Friday, monthly jobs report for December. The economy expected to added 168,000 jobs this month, which would be a slowdown from November. Unemployment rate expected to tick higher to 3.8%.
