    Canada's Brookfield commissions first phase of renewable energy park in Indian state

    Canada's Brookfield Asset Management said on Thursday that it commissioned the first phase of its solar power sourced renewable energy park in the western Indian state of Rajasthan. The first phase is expected to produce an output of 268 megawatt capacity power, while a total of 550 megawatt capacity power is expected at the end of second phase.

    Singtel shares fall more than 1% after Optus stake sale reports

    Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel) shares fell more than 1% on Thursday in early trade after reports it was in advanced negotiations to sell a significant stake in Australian telco Optus to Canada's Brookfield Asset Management. Those reports came after Singtel had dismissed an article in the Australian Financial Review (AFR) on Wednesday saying it would sell the entirety of Australia's second-largest telecommunications group for as much as A$18 billion ($11.93 billion). Shares of Singtel were last down 0.8%, after sliding as much as 1.6% earlier in the session.

    US office market is world's most oversupplied, Brookfield tells MIPIM

    The troubled U.S. office market is the world's most oversupplied and property investors have taken on too much debt, a Brookfield Asset Management executive said on Wednesday. "Per capita, it's the most oversupplied office market in the world," Bradley Weismiller, Brookfield's managing partner for real estate capital markets, told the MIPIM property conference. A punishing rise in borrowing costs since 2022 and a jump in people working from home has emptied many offices in the United States, pummelling the value of many property assets.
