The E-commerce market in the USA

The e-commerce market in the United States is significantly growing. On September 19, Reuters reported that Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) is set to hire an additional 250,000 employees in the United States for the fall season. The company recently established 50 more fulfillment centers and delivery stations in the United States under its expansion plans for the holiday season. The company also plans to offer large discounts in October.

However, the e-commerce market in the United States took an unusual turn recently. On September 27, Reuters reported that the United Nations Antitrust Regulators filed a lawsuit against Amazon.com (NASDAQGS:AMZN) for holding an illegal monopoly. The regulators accused the company of charging higher prices to consumers in the United States, leaving a dent in the global image of Amazon.com (NASDAQGS:AMZN).

Does This Provide an Opportunity to Startups?

The real question here is how does this shape the future of e-commerce in the United States? Will customers continue trusting big names as their go-to marketplaces, or will this allow more companies to join the race and emerge in the industry?

One such startup is ContextLogic Inc. (NASDAQ:WISH). Launched in 2011, the company is an e-commerce platform offering products at extremely affordable prices. On September 26, ContextLogic Inc. (NASDAQ:WISH) reported joining forces with PUDO Inc. (OTC:PDPTF) to enhance the online shopping experience for customers in the United States and Canada. The mobile e-commerce platform ContextLogic Inc. (NASDAQ:WISH) signed a new partnership with the North American parcel pick-up and drop-off counter network PUDO Inc. (OTC:PDPTF). With the partnership in action, consumers will be able to collect parcels from almost 1,200 Pudo counters across the United States and Canada. Bill Zhang, VP of Global Logistics and China GM at Wish, stated:

"Through our collaboration with PUDO Inc., we're enhancing the shopping experience for our customers. The partnership amplifies convenience by enabling hassle-free package retrieval from numerous locations. In parallel, it also opens up new avenues for independent retailers to drive increased foot traffic and revenue streams generated by package collections."
