The Trump administration has scrapped an Obama-era rule designed to provide environmental protection for small bodies of water across the US, in the latest move to roll back green regulations passed under the last administration. The US Environmental Protection Agency announced on Thursday it was repealing the “Waters of the United States” rule, which limited the use of pollutants near streams, ponds and wetlands. The rule sought to expand the definition of what counted as “navigable waters”, therefore requiring environmental protection, but farmers and manufacturers have complained that the new definition was too broad.
