JULIE HYMAN: Here's what you need to watch tomorrow. On Tuesday, we get the consumer price index data. It will offer a key update on the Central Bank's fight with inflation. Economists forecast headline CPI rose 3.3% over the prior year in October, a decrease from the 3.7% rise seen in September, mainly driven by a drop in energy prices.

It comes as Fed chair J. Powell casts some doubt on holding rates steady in the coming months. He made those comments last week. But we may hear otherwise as we expect lots of Fed speak in the next few days, including from officials John Williams and Michael Barr among others tomorrow. On the earnings front, Home Depot is going to kick off a week of big retail earnings. Investors will be looking for an update on the health of the US consumer, as the holiday shopping season kicks into high gear.
