Investors are now looking at September for the first rate cut according to CME's FedWatch tool, and are split as to whether or not there will be just one or two rate cuts this year - a significant departure from last year when markets had anticipated five rate cuts in 2024. The Dow was down 0.3%, the S&P 500 fell 0.4% and the Nasdaq lost 0.6%. Crude oil is trading near above $84 per barrel and gold fell $6 to $2401 per ounce.
